Pray for Ourselves: (James 4:3) — “You ask, and receive not, because you ask amiss, that you may consume it upon your lusts.” Are you guilty of seeking God more for what He can do for you than out of genuine love for Him? Do you sense your thoughts are mixed with selfish desires rather than seeking God’s glory? Are you aware of the desire to be noted and praised by people rather than mainly seeking God’s pleasure? Are you unwilling to pray for God’s will, when it does not fit your plan? Does your love and worship decrease when things don’t go your way? When you get disappointed, do you “cool off” toward God and church? If so, this reveals a significant level of impure motive. Repent of these things and ask the LORD to show you how to simplify your requests and focus your prayers more on others and less on yourself.
Pray for our Valley: (Matthew 15:8-9a & Psalm 149:1,4) — “This people draw nigh to me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips: but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me.” “Praise the LORD. Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of the saints . . . For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with salvation.” Pray that the LORD would increase the worship in our gatherings for His name sake and even though many churches in this Valley worship in many different ways, that hearts would go up to the LORD in praise and they might go out in singing to make a difference in this Valley. Pray that more joint meetings of worship would come together here so that no matter what the preference of people might be style wise, believer might go forth in the power of united worship!
Pray for our Nation: Pray for believers of all races to want to get together to worship the LORD. Pray that Christian leaders from different streams ethnicity wise, would lay down their differences and work together to praise the LORD. Pray that this would happen without compromise to our unity in Christ and to the Word of God.
Pray for the World: Pray that believers would join in worldwide prayer to ask God to transform the hearts of terrorists so that they would be wonderfully saved. “With God nothing will be impossible” (Lk 1:37). Pray that if they will not be saved after hearing a clear presentation of the gospel that God would stop them in their tracks before they can wreak mayhem.
