Baptism (part 2)

Baptism (part 2)

As we get closer to our BAPTISM WEEKEND here’s one of my favorite stories about someone’s baptism. Philip is led by the Holy Spirit to go to a particular spot. As he stands there, and man in a chariot comes by reading from the book of Isaiah. However, he doesn’t understand what the prophet is writing about. So…enter Philip.

Philip helps him see it’s all a prophecy about the coming Messiah. Then Philip explains that the Messiah, JESUS, has already come to our rescue. At that moment, right on the spot this man is ready to get baptized. No waiting…he’s ready to be ALL IN!

“Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.

As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, ‘Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?’ And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him.”  (Acts 8:35-38 NIV)
