What was/is your turning point?

A truly powerful moment happens for each of us when we turn from our sin, repent, and run back to God.
In Jesus’ famous story we call “The Prodigal Son”, He describes the young man’s turning point as He says… “When he came to his senses.” And again when He describes the moment with these words, “So he got up and went to his father.”
I can’t help but think about how humbling that moment was. His sin had taken him to the point where he had truly hit rock bottom. Now, ready to go serve his father…he turned and headed home.
What I want you to see in this story is not just the importance of our turning from our sin, but also notice the father’s response. Jesus tells us this story so we’ll KNOW how God will respond to us if we’ll just admit our sin and turn to Him.
“When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ So he got up and went to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.” (Luke 15:17-20 NIV)
