This past weekend in our Little Faith in a Big World series, we talked specifically about worry.Worry often manifests itself in fear, so one of the examples I gave for choosing faith over fear is regarding our finances.
Here are some strong reasons why choosing faith and becoming generous is always a better choice than living in fear and hanging on to everything I’ve got.
- I believe the top competitor for our devotion to Jesus is money (Matthew 6:24). Giving allows us to demonstrate that He is more important to us than material things. It shows our faith in HIM in a dramatic and practical way.
- I believe you can’t out-give God, so when you’re trusting Him with your tithes and offerings we know that He will bless the rest (Proverbs 3:9-10 and Malachi 3:10-12). Faith BELIEVES that God will indeed keep His promises.
- I think Christians should be the most generous people (2 Corinthians 9:6) on earth to support worthy causes, and there is no organization with more potential to change the world than the local church (Ephesians 3:10)! When the church (people) become truly generous, the world will be changed for all eternity!! Just think about all we could do if God’s people moved forward in faith instead of held back out of fear.
Besides…We are never more like God than when we give. Choose faith!
