Thankful in Pain?
I wanted to write to those of you who didn’t have a great day yesterday. It was Thanksgiving Day…and yet you weren’t surrounded with a house full of laughing family members. In fact, this last season for you has been seriously difficult.
There is a promise of God I want you to see and receive today. The promise is one of PEACE in the midst of our anxiety. What do we have to do??? Talk to God about it.
Paul, who’s sitting in prison, says we can rejoice and then pray with thanksgiving. On the other end of that prayer is the promise. Check it out, then spend some time talking to your Lord today…the One that knows everything about you, and still loves you completely.
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” (Philippians 4:4-8 NIV)
