I often think of “adventure” when I’m out on my bike or on some remote trail in my Jeep. Adventure, though, can mean so much more.
Adventure conjures up the emotions felt when we don’t know what’s around the next corner. Excitement, stress, wonder, joy, fear…it can all be a part of the package.
So, why do we talk in terms of “adventure” when we talk about following Jesus?
It’s obvious, isn’t it!? We really don’t know what’s around the next corner. In fact, what’s around the next corner may not be safe or easy or comfortable, but we won’t be alone. In fact, the bumpy roads and difficult paths we might find ourselves on from time to time are exactly what’s needed to get us where Jesus wants us to wind up.
So, are you still up for an adventure with Jesus? I am. A thousand times…YES!
“In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.” (Luke 14:33 NIV)
