Below the Surface
With all the rain this Spring, our huge pine trees started growing like crazy. This growth began to cause problems for our foundation and our neighbor’s driveway. So…it was time for a change.
We will miss the extra shade, but we aren’t opposed to change from time to time. So, out went the trees. I laughed as I thought of these verses:
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,” (Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 NIV)
The whole process reminded me of things we can let grow below the surface. They’re really not noticeable to others…for a while, but eventually, they will make their way to the surface. Then, with no laughter, I thought of these verses:
“When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.” (James 1:13-15 NIV)
