Better than Hate!
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” ― Martin Luther King Jr.
As we’ve entered 2021 it seems there is more hate, more finger pointing, more division than ever.
As followers of Christ, what should we do in the midst of it all?
I understand we all have our beliefs and convictions, but many of those things are not truly “essential”. This week I want to deal with what is essential for every Christ-follower as we navigate this season of politics, racism and hate in general.
We should take our stand. We should share our viewpoints. However, the moment we move into a conversation with anger and hatred…we’ve lost.
In fact, if you care more about a persons political affiliation more than their relationship with Jesus…you’ve lost.
“Use your heads as you live and work among outsiders. Don’t miss a trick. Make the most of every opportunity. Be gracious in your speech. The goal is to bring out the best in others in a conversation, not put them down, not cut them out.” (Colossians 4:5-6)
