Confident Hope

Confident Hope

I don’t know if you know our friends Jay and Darlene Marcus, but they’re pretty special to Michelle and I. Right now, Jay needs our prayers!

Over the years we’ve had a lot of fun together. We’ve been on some serious adventures, like the time we climbed Mt. Whitney in 2013. We love the beach and the mountains and have found ourselves together in those places more than a few times.

Jay has been battling cancer for over two years now. While his faith has been strong and his humor intact, the disease is taking its toll on him.

It’s likely, whether you know Jay or not, others who are dear to you are struggling and in need of prayer. As we pray for our friends and family who are believers, the following verses in Colossians 1 give us a good place to start.

Please take note of two key words: CONFIDENT HOPE. May they be a strong reminder and a solid rock to stand on when things seem to be uncertain.

“We always pray for you, and we give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. For we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and your love for all of God’s people, which come from your confident hope of what God has reserved for you in heaven. You have had this expectation ever since you first heard the truth of the Good News.
This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God’s wonderful grace.” (Colossians 1:3-6 NLT)
