Evaluate, grow, repeat
“What happens TO me is not nearly as important as what happens IN me!”
I got that line from a good friend of mine, Tim Liston. I can’t get it out of my mind. So, as we wrap up 2019 and begin to charge into 2020, I want to encourage you to let that statement help you pray your way into this New Year. Take some time to read and reread these verses. Pray for yourself, your family, friends and church.
“So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.” (Romans 12:1-2 MSG)
We only have control over so much of what happens around us. We cannot predict the kind of a year 2020 will be. However, we can choose to put Jesus first in our life day after day after day. Let this be the year we seek first HIS Kingdom!!
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33 NIV)
