Before all of you Lynyrd Skynyrd fans start getting too excited, I’m not talking about that song. “Free as a bird,” is one of those phrases that makes perfect sense if you’ve ever taken the time to watch a bird float effortlessly in the breeze.

Even seeing them in the trees, you know, they’re free.

It caught my attention when I saw that same phrase referring to our reality, having had God come to our rescue.

“Oh, blessed be God!

He didn’t go off and leave us.

He didn’t abandon us defenseless,

helpless as a rabbit in a pack of snarling dogs.

We’ve flown free from their fangs,

free of their traps, free as a bird.

Their grip is broken;

we’re free as a bird in flight.

God’s strong name is our help,

the same God who made heaven and earth.” (Psalm 124:6-8 MSG)

Don’t know if you’ve been chased by your past, your temptations or your enemies lately, but the One who sets the birds free, can bring freedom to you as well.

HIS strong name is our help!
