Get back up and try again!
It’s only the second day of 2019, and already some have bailed on your New Year’s resolutions. So, let’s get back on track.
There’s one word that stands in the way of you and I doing what we wish we would do. One word that is in direct opposition to our success in whatever goal we’ve set. One word that seems ready to fight us on every front. That word?
What kind of excuses have you been dealing with? Which ones have been winning?
“I’m too tired.” “I don’t like to read.” “But, I deserve this.”
Take a moment and think through the benefits of following through with the commitment you want to make. Now, tell your excuses to take a hike and get back to it!
Tell a friend what you’re trying to do as well. Excuses lose their power when others are cheering you on. Getting to the top of any hill isn’t easier, but it’s better when you are surrounded by friends who are heading in the same direction!
“I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.” (Philippians 3:12-14 MSG)
