Goat Hair…and I don’t Care!

Goat Hair…and I don’t Care!

When we first mentioned at Community our “Operation Blessing” offering for the new kids building I read the following verses from Exodus 25. God told the people to be generous and help furnish the new tabernacle. (Watch for the words, “goat hair”.)

“The Lord said to Moses, ‘Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You are to receive the offering for me from everyone whose heart prompts them to give. These are the offerings you are to receive from them: gold, silver and bronze; blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen; goat hair; ram skins dyed red and another type of durable leather; acacia wood; olive oil for the light; spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense; and onyx stones and other gems to be mounted on the ephod and breastpiece.’” (Exodus 25:1-7 NIV)

About two weeks after I read these verses to our church, one family told me they were definitely going to give GOAT HAIR for their Operation Blessing offering! GOAT HAIR!!

The Mikolaycik family have three great children and three very pricey baby goats. Their plan is to sell these “kids” (not their children, but the goats) and give the money from these show goats for our new Kids Building (children, not goats).

Did that make any sense? Anyway, I love it. People are getting seriously excited and quite creative in figuring out how they can bring something special on our Operation Blessing weekend, which is September 1 & 2 in all of our weekend services.

What are you bringing???
