Gotta Show Up in order to Build Up
At some point this weekend, many people will look at their options and make a decision on whether or not to make it to a worship service. We might make this decision based on, “what’s in it for me?” Seriously, our options might include the beach or mountains, extra time with family or friends, or simply to get caught up on sleep or yard work…and then church. Hmmmmm. What to do, what to do?
Let me give you one more thing for your options assessment. What if YOU are the one that can encourage someone else. They show up because they know the need it right now. They need God. They need help. They need encouragement.
God has it all set up. They’ll show up and YOU are the one who is able to bring some light and hope into their difficult situation.
Now, it’s on you. What if we truly thought of “others” when we evaluated our options this weekend?
“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:23-25 NIV)
