The Cambodian people I’ve met are humble and gentle and kind. Grace permeates the way they now do life. Knowing some of the devastation in their story makes what God is up to even more amazing.

Horrific things happened in this place that once was a high school. As the Pol Pot regime swept through Cambodia killing nearly 40% of the Country’s population in the late 1970’s, they used all kinds of places for their despicable crimes. Torture, interrogation and death is how S-21 will forever be remembered. The barbed wire was not to keep people out, but to keep those held there from jumping to their death.

While other places killed more people, S-21, in the heart of the capitol city of Phnom Penh, annihilated the famous, the educated and those that once were people of power or influence.

Classrooms were turned to torture chambers. Each death documented with pictures that you see as you walk through its structures.

The most amazing thing about this story now is the leader of this killing camp became a Christian under the leadership of Christopher LaPel. Christopher has been going back to start churches and train leaders since the early 90’s. It’s now been my privilege to go with him 3 times for one of his Leadership Training Institutes.

Knowing what these people have gone through makes their grace and kindness even more significant.

“Receive and experience the amazing grace of the Master, Jesus Christ, deep, deep within yourselves.” (Philippians 4:23 MSG)
