I love sports, but…
I love that our church property is located across from Hemet High. It’s not unusual for me to take in some games throughout the year. I’ve always loved sports and sure enjoy competition at its best.
If you’re a college basketball fan, you know “March Madness” has come and gone for another year. Every game, so intense, when everything is on the line. High School and College sports are my favorite (although I love my Denver Broncos). There is something really special about young people competing and laying it all on the line for a game they love, not one they’re paid to play.
There are actually a few great illustrations in the bible about athletics, but they always take a second place roll to the thing is is most important…the battle we are all in:
“And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels.” (Ephesians 6:10-12 MSG)
