Let the Adventure Begin!
Hundreds of us made commitments this past weekend. If you missed this past weekend, there will be commitment cards in the lobby so you can get started too. This is not new to all of you who’ve been a part of Community for a while. However, some of you who have started attending more recently may be new to these commitments. So, let me give you some help: TAKE THE FIRST STEP!
One of our commitments is “Every Day With Jesus”, so we’re going to read our Bible every day. The first step is starting! If you don’t know where to start, why not read the books in the Bible that specifically talk about Jesus and His time on earth: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John. Start with a chapter a day and spend that time with Jesus.
Another commitment is called “Practical Love”. While there are a lot of ways we can apply this to our daily lives, our focus is to always be praying for someone who needs Jesus. The most loving thing we can ever do for anyone is introduce them to Jesus! Write down and name and pray for them every day. Watch for God to open doors of opportunity as you develop that friendship.
“Intentional Ministry” is our third commitments. Getting started here can be as simple as talking to someone you see serving at a weekend service and ask them how you can help. It doesn’t have to be at weekend service, since we ARE the Church 7 days a week. Basically, find a need and meet it. BAM!
Our final commitment of the four is “Comprehensive Investment”. Here’s where we put God first in our finances and invest in His Kingdom. You first step here, after a discussion with your spouse (if you’re married) is to make it happen. You can use the giving app PUSHPAY, go to our ONLINE GIVING PAGE, use a check or grab an envelope in the lobby for cash.
“So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision—you’ll see it yet! Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it.” (Philippians 3:15 MSG)
