Stepping In: Getting things started!

1 – What has been your favorite book in the Bible, and why? (If you don’t have a favorite, share one verse or story that really resonates with you.)

2 – How does knowing the Bible was written over a period of 1,600 years by about 40 different authors help you understand how special the Bible is?

 

Building Up: What is God Saying? 

Read 2 Timothy 2:14. What are the differences between “arguing” and “discussing” the things regarding our faith?

Read 2 Timothy 2:15. What are some of the keys for us to “correctly handle the word of truth”?

Read 2 Timothy 2:16-18. What are some examples of things people argue about in the church that hurts our witness and destroys our effectiveness? How do we determine what still needs to be discussed and what never needs our time/energy?

Read 2 Timothy 2:19. Whatever happens and whatever people say, God’s truth is our firm foundation for life. How has God’s Word been a foundation for you?

Read 2 Timothy 2:20-21. What is our role in being ready to be used by God?

Read 2 Timothy 2:22-26. Share with your group any insights you get from this last section of verses.

 

Living Out: How do I obey?

1 – What are some things you could be more intentional about when you read God’s Word?

2 – Share something you could “argue” less about and something else you could “discuss” more regarding God’s truth. Share one subject you’d like to learn more about so you could be better prepared to talk to others.
