Stepping In: Getting things started!
1- Share a personal resolution or goal for 2017. Tell your group one thing you’re doing to make sure you keep at it.
2 – Why do you think American Christians tend to pick and choose, from God’s Word, what they want to obey? Why do you think so many people see His Word is optional?
Go over our House Rules one more time!
Building Up: What is God Saying?
Read 2 Kings 4:1-2. Why do you think he asked her what she DID have? Why didn’t Elisha just fix her problem? Why does God sometimes take longer than we want to come to our rescue?
Read 2 Kings 4:3. He doesn’t give her an exact number of jars to get, but does say that it shouldn’t just be a few. When it comes to God’s blessing, do you want a few or a lot? What things might determine the level of God’s blessing in our lives?
(Give some examples of ways you’ve been blessed and what might have been your responsibility in the experience. Or, what did God ask you to do?)
Read 2 Kings 4:4-6. Now finish the following statements:
- She did exactly what Elisha said, some people, on the other hand, might…
- She and her sons must have…
- I’ve noticed that when I obey God…
Read 2 Kings 4:7. The provision occurred after her obedience. In what ways have you seen this to be true in your life?
Do you agree or disagree with “Obedience THEN Blessing”? why?
Living Out: How do I obey?
1- Living Out our faith is all about obedience. Discuss things that would help all of you be more obedient to God on a more consistent basis. (Example: Use the four commitments of RELENTLESS, and then talk about the keys to be successfully obedient in each area.)
- Every Day with Jesus
