Stepping In: Getting things started!

1 – What’s something from this past weekend’s lesson that helped you or encouraged you in some way?

2 – Who is a “Jethro” in your life…and how did or do they help you?

3 – Moses was one of the greatest leaders in human history, but he still needed correction and help. What do you learn from that profound truth?

Building Up: What is God Saying?

Read Exodus 18:13-16. Moses was taking on more than he could keep up with. What can happen to any of us when we take on more than we can handle? What negative repercussions have you seen in others or experienced yourself?

Read Exodus 18:17-18. What is Jethro’s motivation for calling Moses out? What are some good ways and harmful ways to correct someone?

Read Exodus 18:19-20. One key to success is to figure out what ONLY you can do, then delegate to others things that take up a lot of your time. What are a few things you are really good at and what things could you do less of if you found the right people to hand them off?

Read Exodus 18:21-22. What are the key qualities listed here in the kind of people who can help us succeed? What are some other qualities that come to mind? Which of those qualities do you need to add more to your own life?

Read Exodus 18:23. You can’t make everyone happy. What could this verse possible mean to us in our daily lives?

Read Exodus 18:24-26. Moses did it…and it worked! What advice have you received from a “Jethro” in your life and it worked? How do you feel about that “Jethro” for their willingness to care enough to confront?

Living Out: How do I obey?

1 – If you need to go and help, correct and encourage someone this week, what are some keys to remember about your approach? Create a Top Ten list of keys that can help all of us when we need to confront someone in love for their benefit.

2 – Please email us at Lin@community.cc and let us know about your service project(s).
