Stepping In: Getting things started!
1 – Share something from this past weekend’s message you hadn’t realized before. Or, tell your group what you appreciated hearing again about the armor of God.
2 – How does the “armor” picture help you understand the battle we’re in and how to go about it?
3 – If you could create a special kind of “armor” to help you in your marriage, with family, at work or even hanging out with friends, what would it be…and why?
Building Up: What is God Saying?
Read Ephesians 6:10. How are we specifically/practically made strong by God’s power?
Read Ephesians 6:11-12. Why is it critical to know there is a spiritual battle going on that may be beyond our ability to see with physical eyes? What evidence have you experienced in your own life or those around you?
Read Ephesians 6:13. Why is spiritual armor so important in a spiritual battle? What happens when we try to fight THIS battle with our own power and not with the armor of God?
Read Ephesians 6:14-17. Take each piece of armor, one at a time, and discuss what this looks like for us and how we can keep it in place faithfully.
- Belt of truth
- Breastplate of righteousness
- Shoes of readiness for our feet
- Shield of faith
- Helmet of salvation
- Sword of the Spirit
Read Ephesians 6:18-20. What does this teach us about praying for each other?
Living Out: How do I obey?
1 – Share with your group the one piece of armor you need most right now and what you’re going to do THIS WEEK to make sure it’s firmly in place.
2 – How’s that Service Project coming??
