Stepping In: Getting things started!

2 – Finish one or all of the following statements:

  • This series on the Bible has helped me because…
  • One thing I’ve really grown to appreciate about the Bible is…
  • If more people knew the main message throughout the Bible it would…

Building Up: What is God Saying?

Read Genesis 3:1-5. How does the devil attempt to twist and distort the Word of God still today?

Read Genesis 3:6. Adam and Eve were both there. Both gave into temptation. Their reasons for taking the bite are given in verse 6. How does it relate to our temptations?

Read Genesis 3:7. How does “shame” work in our lives today? What is so destructive about how we might wrongly deal with shame when we’re convicted?

Read Genesis 3:8-10. We really can’t “HIDE” from God, but we try. How do people try to hide from God today?

Read Genesis 3:11-13. When confronted we also don’t always own our guilt, but we make excuses. Why do our excuses hurt us even more?

Read Genesis 3:14-19. There have always been serious consequences for sin. What are some consequences we might suffer today, even though we’re forgiven?

Read Ephesians 1:3-10. Before Adam and Eve sinned, or even before they were created, God had a plan in mind to cover our sin and invite us into His family. That message weaves through all the pages of our Bible. What does this say to you about your sin and God’s plan?

Living Out: How do I obey?

1 – What could we do differently to be more intentional about “owning” and “renouncing” our sin, instead of rationalizing and excusing it?

2 – Keep praying for all those we’ll be inviting to Easter in the Stadium!
