Stepping In: Getting things started!

1 – Share a time when your “heart” or “conscience” steered you in the WRONG direction.

2 – What other evidence do you have for agreeing with this statement: “You can train your heart, but you can’t trust it?”

3 – How do you think the S.O.A.P. study method (taught in the weekend message) might be helpful for you?

Building Up: What is God Saying?

Read 2 Timothy 3:10-11. As Paul makes a point about his experiences, how does it help us know the value of people seeing how we conduct ourselves in good and difficult times? Share a way your example helped someone else or how someone’s example was a big help to you.

Read 2 Timothy 3:12-13. Here’s a “promise” in verse 12 we don’t talk about very often. How have you been persecuted? While things do go from bad to worse, what helps you hold on to Jesus through it all?

Read 2 Timothy 3:14-15. God’s Word makes us “wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” What else has God’s Word helped make you WISE for in this life?

Read 2 Timothy 3:16. God’s inspired Word is especially useful for four things. Share a way God’s Word continues to help you in each area:

  • God’s Word teaches me to…
  • God’s Word rebukes me by…
  • God’s Word corrects me when…
  • God’s Word trains me to live God’s way…

Living Out: How do I obey?

1 – Read 2 Timothy 3:17. God’s Word also thoroughly equips us to make a difference. Share some ways you can make a difference in your circle of influence this week.

2 – Talk about how you can make a difference TOGETHER with a service project as a LifeGroup. You could also join in the fun on November 19 and help at one of our project sites as Community goes to help clean up some nursing homes.
