At Community we express our Mission with these three phrases:

Stepping In

Building Up

Living Out

To say it another way, these are the three things we ONLY want to do. We want to focus like a laser beam on what God called His church to do:

Help people step into a relationship with Jesus.

Encourage people to build up that relationship with Jesus.

Challenge people to live out that relationship with Jesus in their every day lives.

Recently, I came across something that challenged me even further in understanding what LIVING OUT really means.

We have tried to “live in” rather than “live out” the gospel. It is time for Christians to “Get out more,” to try alfresco forms of faith and community. The Christian church is too “in here” and not enough “out there.”

“Out there” in love.

“Out there” in service.

“Out there” in relationships.

“Out there” in compassion.

There is no contact with Zacchaeus and other “outsiders” unless you’re “out there” and start “living out” not “living in” the faith. (Leonard Sweet, 11: Indispensable Relationships You Can’t Be Without)
