The Lord is Near
We will go through all kinds of situations in life. Some will bring a smile to our face and others a tear to our eyes. Either way, God is right there. This promise of His presence keeps showing up over and over in the Bible.
One of my favorites is Paul’s use of the promise in the midst of his words to the church in Philippi. Writing from prison, he has the credentials to talk about joy and peace. If you look closely, between joy and peace you’ll find, “The Lord is near.”
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:4-7 NIV)
