Children are a gift. Entrusted to my care, I still take the responsibility of being a father to our girls seriously even though they’re grown. As a Pastor, I’ve been thinking a lot about our responsibility as a church to the generation growing up all around us.
Yes, the weight of this responsibility is enormous, but it is OUR responsibility none the less. So let me ask, what do the children in our homes, streets, schools and our Valley need the most? While pondering that question, I came across this verse:
“Eat honey, dear child—it’s good for you— and delicacies that melt in your mouth. Likewise knowledge, and wisdom for your soul— Get that and your future’s secured, your hope is on solid rock.” (Proverbs 24:13 MSG)
Looks like knowledge and wisdom for their souls is a pretty good place to start! That’s when their future is secured and their hope is on solid ground. And that, my friends, is exactly what we can offer the children who live all around us.
Can’t wait till our new Children’s Building is filled with smiles like this one!
