What’s the big deal???
I understand things are weird with Covid. Church attendance in-person is down across the country. Fortunately, we do have online options. However, the following quote comes more out of a current (in the last decade for sure) attitude towards church attendance/involvement.
“Some of you may have tried church and have given up (if not literally, perhaps emotionally), because you were receiving a minimal return on you investment of precious time. Some of you stopped attending, not because you were against church but because you found its impact not significant enough to make the short list of activities for which you had time. I suspect you may be more ambivalent toward church than against it—a reasonable attitude if you see church as merely another world to manage. Yet, the writings of Scripture lead one to conclude that God intends the church, not to be one more bolt on the wheel of activity in our lives, but the very hub at the center of one’s life and community.” -The Connecting Church, Randy Frazee
Maybe we’ve lost the importance of this gathering because we ONLY consider what WE can GET out of it…
Instead…we need to keep asking what we can give.
- Maybe today…someone else needed your encouragement.
- Maybe today…someone else needed your hug.
- Maybe today…someone else needed your prayer.
- Maybe today…someone else needed your reassurance.
- Maybe today…someone else needed your laughter, smile, high five!
Yes, we’re online for those who are vulnerable or have family members who are, but we are IN PERSON in all of our weekend services. Maybe it’s time to join us…not because you need it, but because others need you!
“Let’s see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other on, especially as we see the big Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:25 MSG)
