When Worry Consumes
Whether you’re concerned about paying your bills or making it through the next series of health tests, worry can be overwhelming. Even while praying for our “daily bread”, it’s possible to spend more time after our prayer consumed with just HOW God is going to come through.
I have my moments of worry. I know what God is capable of, but still find myself struggling to sleep through the whole night at times because of a myriad of things consuming my mind and heart. If I told you “don’t worry,” it may not make a difference in your next night’s sleep.
However, what if the One who is in control of everything told you not to worry? While near this peaceful setting at the Sea of Galilee, Jesus uttered these words of reassurance to all who find ourselves biting our nails. We do have something to do, instead of worry…Seek HIM! He’s got the rest!!
“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” (Matthew 6:31-33 NLT)
