Listen with your EYES
“However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.” (Ephesians 5:33 NIV)
Do you know what each facial expression of your spouse means? A huge part of communication, and this probably isn’t news to anyone, is body language. Right?
We can say one thing, but mean the opposite. Our actual meaning is clearly communicated through a combination of our words AND facial expressions, tone, body language and so much more.
Your mission, as a spouse, is to know what your spouse is saying, no matter what the words are. Got it? The more time you spend with each other, the easier it gets.
By the way, this is why I don’t try to solve complicated relational issues with ANYONE over a text or an email. I need to see, hear and absorb what is really being said.
It’s not just that men and women are different…we are ALL different. Take some time and pay attention to your spouse, your family, your friends, co-workers, and anyone else God sends your way.
Your willingness and ability to actually listen to what’s being said may be a real difference maker this week!
