Do you want to get more out of reading the Bible?

Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in all of the Bible. It’s packed with value concerning the Word of God. Each verse gives us another nugget. I could choose from many here to make my point, but I love verse 18. It’s a prayer really.

If you want to get more out of each time you read God’s Word, then here is my encouragement. As you open your Bible, ask God to open your eyes…and your heart!

“Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.”  (Psalm 119:18 NIV)

Today I’d like to give you the last few verses of Psalm 90. It’s something to chew on, to pray through. Take your time…

“Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.

O Lord, come back to us! How long will you delay?

Take pity on your servants! Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.

Give us gladness in proportion to our former misery! Replace the evil years with good.

Let us, your servants, see you work again; let our children see your glory.

And may the Lord our God show us his approval and make our efforts successful. Yes, make our efforts successful!”  (Psalm 90:12-17 NLT)

Thank you MOM!

We’ve just spent the weekend honoring mothers, and I can’t quit thinking about mine. My mom was one in a billion to be sure! In a lot of ways, she reminds me of my wife, Michelle. Both are pure and at times delightfully naive. They both love the Lord. They both deeply care about other people.

My mom will always be special to me. No doubt, her legacy far outlasts just my sister and I. She left her mark on dozens, hundreds and most likely thousands of others throughout her years.

Thank you mom!

Do you want to hear the best words ever?

“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’”  (Matthew 25:21 NIV)

This weekend we’re taking a deep dive into a familiar parable. You can take the time to read the whole thing in Matthew 25:14-30 on your own, but for now I want you to focus on these words from verse 21.

What are you praying for?

You and I have a myriad of things we pray about. Situations and people flood our mind as we enter the presence of our Father in prayer. Whether you keep a list on paper or in your head/heart, it’s amazing that we can take these things to God and know He cares.

Aside from praying for the sick and those challenging situations we find ourselves in, let’s also be praying that God continues to give us opportunities to share His love and grace with others this week! Make it a matter of prayer, especially as you pray for your Top Five!
