In a land of bad feelings

It seems everyone is forced to take sides on just about every issue. Mask/No Mask. Vax/No Vax. Republican/Democrat, Pro Newsome/Anti Newsome. The list is actually much longer than this. Right?

It’s not that we don’t or shouldn’t have opinions, but I have a growing concern for how Christians get caught up in the heat and return evil with more evil. Being right in one way, but wrong in the way you present it doesn’t help much…or at all.

Let’s work at loving and even praying for those we disagree with. Let’s seek to understand before we demand being understood. Let’s allow Jesus to guide, not only our thoughts, but the way we communicate them.

“Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.” (Romans 12:17-18 NLT)

How do we do this?

Jeremy’s passing, and many others in the past couple years, force us to look at the big picture. Here’s the good news…God is all about the big picture!

While we look at that bigger picture in our series, “The Good Book,” we’ll gain perspective that will certainly help us all.

For Jeremy and those who really knew Jesus while with us, we have this HOPE. Yes, we grieve and it hurts, but we know the ONE who’s bigger picture includes our eternity with Him.

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope.” (1 Thessalonians 4:13 NLT)

Just Stop

If you’ve followed this blog for very long, you know I love this verse. I love it especially when I’m looking at another amazing sunset. God is good!

So, when you see your next sunset…just stop and remember this:

“That’s how God’s Word vaults across the skies from sunrise to sunset, Melting ice, scorching deserts, warming hearts to faith.” (Psalm 19:6 MSG)

A new book for our new series

We are all set to celebrate the life of Jeremy Thompsen this Saturday morning at 10am in person at Community or you can join us online as we will LiveStream the service on our church Facebook and YouTube channels.

Also this week we are starting a new series. It’s called The Good Book. While it is about God’s good book, that is actually then name of a book. If you wanted to get it and do some more reading on the subjects we’ll cover over the next eight weeks, here is a link below:

Jeremy’s Service this Saturday

Here is some information regarding Jeremy’s service this Saturday, 10am at Community.

We know it will be a full house. With all that is going on, please be responsible and considerate to others. We will be live-streaming the memorial so you’ll have the option to view from home. We will also have overflow rooms available if you want to be with us, but not in the large room.

We will not be having refreshments following the service.

In lieu of flowers, you can give a gift to the family by giving to “The Thompsen Family Fund” through Community Christian Church. We’ve established this fund so that everything given, will go directly to Jen and the boys.

While we miss Jeremy, we will certainly celebrate his life on Saturday…and beyond!
