This summer we’ll be working our way through the wealth of wisdom found in the book of Proverbs. For a dozen weeks we’ll dig deep into this gold mine of God’s take on the better way to do life.

No matter how many times I read through the book of Proverbs I never cease finding God’s help for life. It’s packed full and it’s definitely overflowing.

I can’t say I have a favorite verse. There’s just one after another that I can’t wait for us to spend some extended time with throughout the next few months.

It all starts Father’s Day weekend, June 14-15.

I’ll give you one verse now. It might just help you today:

“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” (Proverbs 15:1 NIV)

True dat!

I came across a great quote thick with application and meaning. Strangely enough, it came from a book about church buildings. I grabbed this book because the title itself intrigued me. As we move forward with our building plans, I’m loving some of the stuff I’m finding in this book. But check out this quote:

“Life stories are generally seen and felt long before they are verbally communicated. In fact, I believe that some parts of our story, those with the most intrinsic value, are never spoken. We did not need to hear Mother Theresa tell us she loved orphans. Michael Jordan doesn’t need to give a speech on why he’s one of the most captivating athletes to play the game. We do not need to have a mother, rocking her baby, to tell us that she loves that gift from God. No, we can see it. We can feel it. There is something that communicates the story to us just by looking at the person or the situation.” -Why Church Buildings Matter: The Story of Your Space, by Tim Cool

Forget, for a moment, what the book is about. Read that quote and think of your own life and the message you’re communicating before you ever open your mouth.

We need to be able to express and explain our faith with our words, but those words will have no depth, no meaning and will make no connection without a life that is already living them.

Let’s tell a story today! A great one!!

During our series, What On Earth Am I Here For?, we are offering something really special. We’re following up our weekend lesson with some very interesting and insightful study during the week. We’ve got three nights to choose from:

Tuesday at 7 pm for MEN

Wednesday at 7 pm for ANYONE

Thursday at 6:30 pm for WOMEN

Get to the worship center and join us. If you missed last week, it’s not too late. Come join the fun, meet some really great people and dive a little deeper into our subject of the week.

Due to the high winds last week, we decided to split our efforts and work in both San Jacinto and Hemet. Some churches will still be meeting in San Jacinto, but we are going to Hemet Christian Assembly next to Weston Park.

Please meet at the church there on the West side of the park at 7 am. We’ll have donuts and coffee ready to go. Then, we’ll work that area by cleaning up all the debris that was a result of our winds.

You need gloves, sunscreen & hats, rakes, brooms and large dust pans. We’ll have trash bags and water for you.

Also, if you have a truck, we’ll need a few to help as we bag and clean up the downtown area in Hemet.

We’ll wrap it up around 11:30 and we’ve got lunch for you too!!
