God never promised anyone the assignment ahead of them would be easy. However, Jesus uses the word “easy” one time. It’s not referring to the mission, the goal or the life ahead of us. See what He’s talking about in Matthew 11.
Stepping In: READ IT
Read Matthew 11:1-30
Building Up: STUDY IT
Focus on Matthew 11:28-30
In the NIV, Jesus’ words in verse 30 are translated, “For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

I love these verses in The Message: "Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly."
Living Out: APPLY IT
Application questions (Is there a… 1. Sin to CONFESS 2. Promise to CLAIM 3. Attitude to CHANGE 4. Command to OBEY 5. Example to FOLLOW (or not) 6. Prayer to PRAY 7. Error to AVOID 8. Truth to BELIEVE 9. Something to PRAISE GOD FOR).
Jesus’ invitation to “come to me…” is personal, genuine and very, very inviting. In Him we find rest, peace and the humble heart of our servant leader. The more I get to know Jesus, the more I’m blown away that people don’t want to follow Him.
Dear Father, I’m humbled by the truth of this personal invitation. You are inviting ME. You love ME. You want ME to come close to You. Please convict me of any time I try to make my own brand of Christianity into something that is a heavy burden and not the easy yoke and light burden that You have invited me to join you with.Today I just want to bask in the warmth of your invitation and your offer of true relationship. May my daily worship come from a heart that is constantly blown away by your offer.
