As I was reading a book a friend loaned to me I came across a quote I had to pass on to you.

Around here, at Community, we communicate our mission with these three statements:

Stepping In – Building Up – Living Out

While Major W. Ian Thomas doesn’t use any of those phrases, I had to read this paragraph over a few times because it simply said it all.

“To be in Christ—that is redemption; but for Christ to be in you—that is sanctification! To be in Christ—that makes you fit for Heaven; but for Christ to be in you—that makes you fit for earth! To be in Christ—that changes your destination; but for Christ to be in you—that changes your destiny! The one makes heaven your home—the other makes this world His workshop.” (The Saving Life of Christ, Major Ian W. Thomas, Pg. 19)

Christ in you! We will most definitely get to enjoy the reward of Heaven for all of eternity, but our relationship with Jesus is not just something to hold on to for later. It is to be built up and lived out now!

Get the word out. This weekend at Community is going to be something really powerful.

We start a brand new series I’m calling, “REALationships”. Each week in May we’ll tackle a critical relationship in our lives that need God’s wisdom and direction.

Also, Ryan and Noomi will be back to lead in our worship experience.

There is something very special that happens when a church actually cares about the Valley it’s a part of. The Big Serve is just one day, but it’s an awesome day of Practical Love and Intentional Ministry being expressed all over our Valley.

Again, I want to think all of you that were such a huge part of our day.

Here’s a few beauties doing some damage on some over-grown hedges at My City Youth Center.

This coming weekend you’ll get to see some of the sights and sounds of what happens when hundreds of people actually go beyond just talking about loving the place where they live.

As a church family, we are out serving our Valley today.

People from Community are teamed up with their friends all over this Valley of ours in order to make a difference.

Today is just ONE day in a year filled with opportunities to show our Valley that we love them. Thank you all for making this ONE day a great one!

The heart of the whole day is about loving our Valley enough to get outside of the comfort of our own building and take it to the streets. Any interaction you have with people should reflect that love and the heart behind why we’re out serving.

Don’t miss the opportunities right in front of you. Take full advantage of getting to know some other people. Pay attention when people introduce themselves. You’ll gain some more friends. And know this, serving together really does help us connect to each other in a deeper way.

Invite someone to join you. You’ve only got a couple days left, but invite a classmate or co-worker to serve with you. They don’t have to go to Community to be a help, and it might just be a help to them as they rub shoulders with the “real people” who call Community home.

One last thing. We won’t be having a worship service but you can still be generous and give as you normally do. For your regular giving and tithes, you can mail those in or simply use our electronic options:
