Have you picked the right team?

Just a quick personal note: today would have been my dad’s 86th birthday. I truly miss him but am so grateful for his example and everything he taught me.

Now, as we approach Sunday…It’s almost Super Bowl Sunday…so that means it’s JERSEY WEEKEND at Community!

Wearing jerseys and t-shirts or sweatshirts from our favorite teams is fun and it might just remind us we come from different places but are now all on the same team! We’re all, as followers of Christ, a part of the family of God. Wow!

When we gather for worship, we gather as ONE. This is all just another great reminder that TOGETHER we THRIVE in 2025!

“For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:16-28 NLT)

Can you get enough of this???

First of all, this is Super Bowl weekend. So, that means it’s JERSEY WEEKEND at Community. Football, soccer, baseball, hockey…represent your favorite team in all of our services!!

Now, on to today’s blog:

I’m a big fan of good news, especially The GOOD NEWS.

Here’s a great picture of how God’s mercy and grace come to our rescue. Soak it up and look for ways to share this amazing news.

“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he makes sinners right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.” (Romans 3:23-26 NLT)

How are your feet?

How are your feet? Are they beautiful???

Right after Paul says “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved,” he talks about our feet. What? Well, kind of.

Just know this, when you take the Good News to others, your feet are beautiful. Who are you sharing Jesus with this week?

“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (Romans 10:14-15 NIV)

Can it get any better than this?

On this Friday I want to simply share with you some amazing news.

God really does love you and has done ALL the work necessary for your salvation. Maybe you’ve been blowing it lately, maybe it feels like your struggle with sin is too much, may you just don’t see how God could grant you salvation.

Well, here’s the good news. Read it a few times!

“But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.” (Titus 3:4-7 NIV)

Can you name even more?

One of the things, and it’s so simple, that would really help us out on Sundays is for more of you who call Community HOME to go to our 8am service. Yes, the 9:30 and 11:00am services are filling up and we really need some of you to go to our earlier service, making room for all of our new people who are flocking to the later services. (You can also go on Thursday nights as well!)

Here are my TOP EIGHT reasons to go to the 8:00 service:

8-You have less traffic on the way to church because everyone else in the Valley is sleeping in.

7-First pick of the fresh donuts.

6-Easier to find a parking spot.

5-You’ll be able to get into your favorite restaurant after church without waiting in line! (Maybe)

4-You get more time to do whatever you want the rest of the day…including taking a nap!

3-You can serve in our later services that have a greater need for greeters, children’s ministry workers, etc.

2-You’ll meet some other great people at Community and make some more friends.

1-You’ll help make space for our newest people who most likely will come to a later service.
