More about Forgiveness-Part 2
As we wade even deeper to the journey we call FORGIVENESS I am challenged to recognize it is indeed a journey…a process.
I want to give you some more from David Augsburger, in his book Caring Enough to Forgive.:
“Forgiveness, which is a complex and demanding process, is often reduced to a single act of accepting another. In spite of the pain, hurt, loss and wrongdoing that stand between us, we are encouraged to forgive in a single act of resolving all by giving unconditional inclusion. Such a step becomes too large for any human to take in a single bound.”
Then he goes on to say,
“Forgiveness is a journey of many steps, each of which can be extremely difficult, all of which are to be taken carefully, thoughtfully, and with deep reflection.”
If we can just be clear on the next step, then take that step with great dependence on God and His grace, we can then move forward. As God helps us with each and every step, we can experience the new life of belonging to Jesus!
“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! ” (2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT)
