Faith revealed in the storm
In case you don’t know, much has changed with our family in the last week and a half. Just after 3 am on Sunday morning, September 3rd, my mom called and asked me to come help take my dad to the ER. He was in a lot of pain. Our first concern, even though the pain was in his back, was his heart. He had a massive heart attack a few years back.
Well, the pain was serious enough for some stout medication. The good news: no heart issues. The bad news: They saw something in one of the scans.
Now, with a few more days and a few more tests in the rear window, we’ve gotten the word that my dad does have cancer.
I just wanted to take a moment to update you and to thank you all for the prayers and support.
Prostate cancer is the culprit. It has spread into his lungs and spine. The doctor is going to be treating it without chemo or radiation.
So we pray, we hope and we wait. Knowing that God is ultimately in charge we will see how the treatments work. Make no mistake about it though, our hope is in the Lord!
My mom and dad have spent their years building the foundation for their lives and our family on the solid rock of Jesus’ teaching. Storms come to us all, the real question is: do you have a foundation that can handle it?
“Anyone who listens to my (Jesus) teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.” (Matthew 7:24-27NLT)
My dad is still cracking jokes, still smiling and still a lot of fun to be around. See that smile when I say, “THANK YOU” for all your prayers, support and love!
