Remembering 9-11

Remembering 9-11

The images today are not mine, but these thoughts are.

As I look back on that morning of September 11, 2001, I’m reminded of how blindsided we all felt. This was not typical warfare. This was sneaky, with terrorist hiding in the open. They took flying lessons, bought tickets, blended in…

While I remember that morning and being glued to the tv with tears running down my face, I’m reminded of our battle with temptation. At times we feel blindsided, shocked by what comes out of our mouth or what our actions got us into. Let today be fair warning: as deadly as those planes crashing into the twin towers was, so is the end game of temptation. Don’t take it lightly…ever.

“Don’t let anyone under pressure to give in to evil say, “God is trying to trip me up.” God is impervious to evil, and puts evil in no one’s way. The temptation to give in to evil comes from us and only us. We have no one to blame but the leering, seducing flare-up of our own lust. Lust gets pregnant, and has a baby: sin! Sin grows up to adulthood, and becomes a real killer.” (James 1:13-15 MSG)
