Maybe you’re convinced that you are a part of the Body of Christ and you have a unique role to play in ministry. Maybe you’re getting a better idea of what God is leading you to do in service with your life. And maybe, just maybe, you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed.
Before you say YES to what God is leading you to do with Him. You might need to say NO to some other stuff.
I’m not talking about saying NO to bad stuff so you can say YES to good stuff. (That’s more for another blog post. ha)
We’re talking about saying NO to good stuff…so we can say YES to the BEST STUFF!
One of the most leadership critical decisions we make at Community is when we decide to say NO to a good thing in order to fully engage in the best thing God is leading us to accomplish.
I can’t tell you what you’ll need to cut out of your packed schedule, but even without knowing your specific situation, I’m pretty sure you need to cut something.
Paul shares his decision to take a pass on everything that everyone else thought was important, so as to completely follow Jesus. Read his words. They might help you figure out the difference between the good and the best.
Prayer thought:
Allow that verse to sink in. In case you read it in a hurry, stop, pray and read it again. Meditate on it until you have a full understanding of what that means. I am going to take a guess and say that the Lord might have already been preparing your heart for today’s message. He might have already laid something on your heart that He wants you to give up in exchange for something far greater. It may or may not make sense, but if you need assurance, you can always ask for it like Peter did.
“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” (Mathew 14:28 NIV)
