While the people were sharing their stories, the man who was interpreting for me didn’t always know what to say. I picked up only bits and pieces of some of the stories as he translated. But then we really connected…and had a good laugh.

One lady had been talking for a couple of minutes, but he said nothing. There was no translation. So I looked at him as if to say, “Dude, what’s she saying???” Our next exchange cracked us both up.

He said, “She’s just repeating herself. She is….um…is…um…like airplane.”

That’s all I got, but then I smiled and said, “You mean, she doesn’t know how to land?”

With a big smile, he exclaimed, “Exactly!”

Too funny!

These are indeed some precious and special people here. I have a lot of time observing because I don’t always have access to the two people than can interpret for me. I love watching the behind the scenes activity.

These young people gather the tables cloths after every meal, wash them, and then hang them up to dry. It’s just their roll, their service and usually with a smile (until I walked up with a camera).

The boy standing behind them IS helping. He’s hanging each one up after it’s washed. Just gotta give him props!
