Yesterday I had the privilege of officiating at the memorial service for Tom Hutchinson. Tom was a part of the Community family, but last week was tragically killed in a car accident. Please be praying for his wife, Natalie, and their family.
Being a Border Patrol Agent, the memorial service was filled with green uniforms. Then, on the way to the graveside service at the National Cemetery, I saw this in my rearview mirror.
Typically, that would scare me to death. And yes, it’s happened a number of times in a number of different states. (True confession time.)
This time, as I looked in my mirror, I knew I was being followed by dozens and dozens of Border Patrol units. There was no anxiousness, no quick glances at my speedometer. I was surrounded, and that brought a sense of peace as we headed to the freeway.
I also thought about how the thought of God ALWAYS being with us, ALWAYS seeing everything we do might scare us at times. However, I hope there are more times when knowing He is that close is a huge comfort to you. He’s got you surrounded…and that’s a very good thing!
