Each school in Missions of Hope, Int. is staffed with social workers who know the kids in the school, their families and many others who live in the village. Our school in Area 2 is gifted with some very special social workers like Pauline.

In the afternoon, after VBS (Vacation Bible School) we divide up into smaller teams and are led by these social workers into the homes of people who have these incredibly dark shacks in which they live. After getting permission, we cut a hole in the ceiling and cover it with clear fiberglass so that it still keeps out the rain, but it lets in the sunlight.

We explain to them that the darkness is similar to our lives without Jesus. But, when Jesus comes into our life, He bring His light to show us the way and give us hope.

One of the mothers our team got to meet was a beautiful lady named Winifred. Her smile after the light came into her home lit it up all over again!

In these encounters we had several who said they’d come to the church we’d be at on Sunday, some gave their lives to Jesus for the first time, and others were genuinely encouraged by our prayers for them. In each case we asked how we could pray for them and then we joined hands and prayed.

There is so much more to do here, and at times it’s discouraging knowing we couldn’t help or fix every situation we saw. However, we did help some. We did bring joy to a few. We ARE making a difference.

Thanks again for your prayers!!!!!!!
