Every time I’m here in Nairobi working in the Mathre Valley slums, there is a very clear sense that God is up to something special…and we just get to be a part of it.
As leaders of Community, one of our constant prayers over the years has been to be where God is working. We’ve felt this is a better approach rather than just asking God to bless what we’re trying to do.
So…here we are again watching God do something incredible. Missions of Hope International is now over 13,000 children in a number of schools. Being in Area 2 (454 children) is just the tip of the iceberg, but you get a great sense of what God is up to when you’re one-on-one with the students and staff. It’s amazing.
The “kids” aren’t the only ones to get in on the action.
On top of our work with the Area 2 school, we’ve also been going into the community to meet with parents. We share with them information about health issues to benefit them and their children, as well as, share with them the Good News of Jesus. Each encounter is a blessing to us, and hopefully one to them as well.
Today (Saturday) we also got to go to Joska, the boarding school for middle school and high school. It’s so refreshing to see these young people as they now have real hope as they experience life outside of the slum.
Keep praying!
