For those of you going on this Daniel Fast journey with us for the next 21 days, I want to encourage you with the fact that you will be discouraged.

Now that we’re off to a great start…ha…let me say it this way. Life doesn’t become a rose garden just because you committed to do this “fast” thing. Life will still come at you.

So, as we get started, let me encourage you to stay in God’s Word each and every day. #EveryDayWithJesus.

If you’re reading one chapter in the book of John each day then you already have or you’re about to see this verse in the first chapter.

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14 NIV)

I underlined that last phrase because it will breath life and hope and give you a game plan for those times when discouragement happens. People usually fall to one side or the other, but Jesus was FULL of both GRACE and TRUTH.

When life comes at you, and it will, think of your response as a demonstration of both grace and truth.

Here’s the Message’s take on this great verse.

The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, Generous inside and out, true from start to finish. (John 1:14 MSG)

What if we were all, for the next 21 days and beyond, generous inside and out, true from start to finish? What if that was our method of operation in the good and the bad days? Sounds like a plan!
