Prayer for Ourselves: (Hebrews 12:14) “Pursue peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.” (1 John 3:3) “And every man that hath this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure.” The intense pursuit of holiness is to be the predominant priority of every Christian. Actually the pursuit of holiness is a spiritual mindset. The Greek word for “pursuit” means an intense of passionate effort. If someone is Spirit filled, there will be a burning thirst to experience Christ’s holiness in every corner of his being. Pray that your desire to “Be Holy as His is Holy” would increase day by day and show up in your behavior.
Questions for reflection: Is your mind filled with thoughts of how to experience greater holiness? Do you often say, “I wish I was more like Jesus” and then do little to pursue spiritual cleansing? Do you consistently make time to allow God to search every area of your life? God’s Word is absolutely central to the process. Do you regularly read comprehensive lists of Scriptures designed to thoroughly examine your heart? If not, then you are not seriously pursuing holiness. In Matthew 6:33, Jesus said we are to, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.” Is holiness your top pursuit? If not, ask God to grant you a heart that hungers for holiness that is genuine. That’s one prayer God will answer every day!
Prayer for our Valley: Pray that all the people in the cities of San Jacinto and Hemet would sow day in the near future want to just stop and pray. Every year Israel remembers the Holocaust by sounding sirens throughout the nation and stopping to pray. Cars pull over to the side of the road and people get out of their cars in remembrance. Business people stand by the side of there desks and remember/pray till the “all clear” is gen. Even though it sounds impossible, let’s pray that something like that would happen in our Valley and everyone would call out to the LORD in prayer—praying for salvation, civility, love and respect for one another. Pray that some would even pray for the swoon Return of the Lord Jesus Christ!
Pray for our Nation: Pray that all the Evangelical Churches in America would work together in unity for the gospel to be shared with everyone who lives in America. Pray for the people hearing the gospel clearly across this nation and first revive all believers then push them out on the “highways and byways” of this great nation to proclaim the Good News that Christ died for their sins, that He wants to forgive their sins and give them eternal life!
Pray for the World: (Revelation 22:12-13) “Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” Pray every day that the LORD would come quickly. Sacrifice your time, treasures and talents to help spread the gospel and pray that as people are being saved they will look forward to the Second Coming of the LORD. On this day especially, as it is Yom Kippur, pray for the salvation of the people of Israel and Jewish people all over the world.
