Stepping In: Getting things started!

 

1-For those of you who are married or dating, how did the homework go?

 

2-What were some of the highlights or challenges from this past weekend’s message?

 

3-Share one thing you have, with the help of God, had victory over regarding a temptation or struggle. What was a key to that victory?

 

 

Building Up: What is God Saying? 

 

Read 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8, then answer the following questions:

 

1-What does it mean to you to live in order to “please God” (vs. 1)? How does the “authority of our Lord Jesus” affect these instructions as they land on your eyes, ears and heart (vs. 2)? Why does Jesus have the right to tell you what to do?

 

 

2-One definition of “sanctification” (vs. 3) is: “To sanctify someone or something is to set that person or thing apart for the use intended by its designer.” How does God’s will for you to be “sanctified” for His purpose challenge you to listen and obey? How could it help you when temptation comes knocking?

 

 

3-As followers of Jesus we’re to control our bodies, unlike those who don’t know God (vs. 4-6). Why do you think so many American Christians seem to look, act and live like they don’t know God?

 

 

4-Read verses 7-8 again out loud, then finish one of the following phrases:
