Stepping In: Getting things started!

1- What excites you most about our Easter event in the Stadium?

2- What are some of the most powerful “destiny changers” you’ve seen or experienced in your life?

3- What are interesting components to Jonah’s story?

Building Up: What is God Saying?

Read Jonah 1:1-3. What are some reasons why we sometimes run from God? What lessons do you get from the beginning of Jonah’s story in chapter 1?

Read Jonah 1:17. Quickly review the story here in case there are some who don’t know it. After reading verse 17 finish one of the two following statements:

*God helped get me back on track when I…

*It wasn’t a fish, but God used a…

Read Jonah 2:1-10. What do you learn from Jonah’s prayer? (What do you learn about God, Jonah and yourself?)

Read Jonah 3:1-5. Nineveh was a wicked city, and yet they were repentant and ready for change. We only have one line of Jonah’s speech in verse 4. With grace & love, what kinds of things might need to be said to our culture today?

Read Jonah 3:10. How does this verse encourage you? How does it challenge you to action?

Read Jonah 4:1-3. We can be pretty hard on Jonah here, but much of his unwillingness to “go” to Nineveh was because they were the enemies of God’s people. He wanted them punished for things they had done and he wanted his people protected. While Jonah had a pretty good picture of who God is, what was He missing?

Read Jonah 4:11. Jonah had been all upset about a plant he had no control over, then God makes His final point. What are some things we get upset about that really don’t matter in the big, eternal scheme of things? What can we do to have a heart from our own Valley of 120,000+ people like God has?

Living Out: How do I obey?

1- Where has God “sent you” but you’ve been reluctant to go? What needs to happen next?

2- Have a special prayer time for our Easter in the Stadium.

Pray for all those invited.

Pray for our teams of ushers, greeters, parking, security, children/games, set-up/tear-down, worship band & singers, prayer, first-aid, Egg Hunt, and decision helpers.
