Building Up: What is God Saying? 

Read John 15:1-3. How does “pruning” work? How has God “pruned” things from your life so that you can be more productive and effective?

Read John 15:4-6. What does Jesus’ statement, “apart from me you can do NOTHING,” really mean? What are the keys to “remaining” in Him so we are productive? Why does he repeat the idea of being cut off if we are not productive?

Read John 15:7-8. How does the context of “remaining in Him” help you understand the promise of answered prayer at the end of verse 7? How does verse 8 motivate you?

Read John 15:9-13. What are some of the things Jesus is teaching here about “love” in our relationship with Him? With others?

Read John 15:14-17. How is following Jesus out of love and friendship a better motivator than fear and punishment? Why is our love for each other a true sign of our love for Him?

 

Living Out: How do I obey?
