2- What secrets have you learned about being content in a culture that does everything in its power to NOT let you be content?
Building Up: What is God Saying?
1- Read 1 Timothy 6:6. What does this mean? How does this work in our daily life?
2- Read 1 Timothy 6:7. How does this help us be content? What other verses or stories in the Bible remind you of this truth?
3- Read 1 Timothy 6:8. Is that a “fair” statement in our culture? What about a house or a car?
4- Read 1 Timothy 6:9. What kinds of temptations have you experienced or seen others struggle with when it comes to money and possessions?
5- Read 1 Timothy 6:10. Money is NOT evil. The love of it is. Why is that an important distinction? What kinds of consequences have you seen come crashing down when people don’t have the right attitude towards money?
6- Read 1 Timothy 6:17. Why do you think where our “hope” is placed is such a huge issue for those who have a lot of stuff? How can you personally tell when you’re putting too much hope in your money?
7- Read 1 Timothy 6:18-19. How does being generous counteract the destructive pull of greed? What did you learn from the message when Pastor John was talking about how we get it wrong when we Pursue TEMPORARY possessions over ETERNAL treasures?
