1- What’s one of your favorite Proverbs or wisdom sayings?
2- What might be different if we always asked ourselves, “What is the WISE thing to do in this situation?” (How is that similar or different from WWJD?)
3- Who is someone you look up to for their wisdom? In particular, what makes you think of them when we talk about wisdom?
Building Up: What is God Saying?
Read James 3:13-18. Now answer the following questions:
1- After reading verse 13, what are some specific examples of a life lived with wisdom? Think about your every day life…work…family…school…etc. What does wisdom look like in those contexts?
2- How do some people confuse bitterness and selfish ambition with wisdom? What are some of the signs given in these verses that this kind of wisdom is definitely not from God?
3- How have you seen wisdom in the terms set out in verse 17? Give examples of each:
- Pure
- Peace loving
- Considerate
- Submissive
- Full of mercy and good fruit
4- Why is “peacemaking” and wisdom so closely connected in these verses?
5- Review verses 13-18 one more time. What is a major lesson the people you work with, live with or recreate with need to learn?

1- What did YOU need to learn from these verses? What are you going to do differently?
2- What are some ways you can consistently grow in your wisdom?
